It is the first time in fifteen years that civil servants who are members of the Armed Forces have received a salary increase. That increase could already appear in the April payroll, and will be between 40 and 113 euros, depending on the scale or job position they occupy in the Army.
Beneficiaries will be paid retroactively from January 1. In total, there will be 133,282 soldiers who will see this salary increase that will be distributed among the different corps and categories available to the Army.

The rise in the specific complement in the salary of the military “has not changed since 2005, so we have approved a Royal Decree that contemplates the application of this measure,” said the Government spokesperson, María Jesús Montero.
“Many things have already changed when it comes to accessing a military career. The entry of has become more demanding and it is also fair that there is a rise in salary as a counterpart to these new requirements ”, she stressed.
How much will the military charge with the salary increase
Depending on the rank they have. The payroll of a troop soldier is not going to be the same as that of a general. It wasn’t before and it won’t change now. The new specific complement to the salary of the military will range from 43 euros for new soldiers that began in January 2021 to 113 in the case of Brigade positions.
For Montero, this new remuneration is fair “because the remuneration has been out of date with respect to the current demands of the Armed Forces.” It is precisely these new work commitments that require better qualifications.
For this reason, now more than ever, with the Covid19 crisis, the work of the Army is being very prominent. They provided significant support during the first State of Alarm in March 2020, and have continued to do so from then on.
It should be borne in mind that, being civil servants, the military also saw the 0.9% salary increase promised by the Government and included in the General State Budgets as of January 2021. This increase comes, then, by a adaptation of the soldier and sailor job complement to level 14.
