We explain in an easy and clear way how you can calculate the self-employment quota issued by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS)

Are you interested in being autonomous? Are you thinking of opening your own business or do you dream of being your own boss? If so, continue reading this article. Because there are many people who enter the adventure of being autonomous without having very clear the first steps to follow.

From Noticiastrabajo.es we want to help you that calculating your freelance quota does not pose any problem.

Autonomous quota 2021

This fee represents the contribution that the professional will contribute to Social Security to guarantee basic coverage such as health care, temporary disability and maternity leave.

On the one hand, the self-employed who register for the first time in the RETA (Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers) in the first year have the possibility of requesting a “flat rate” of 60 euros per month, but their contribution base must correspond to the minimum. The same happens with those self-employed who have been discharged from the RETA for more than two years, who are lucky enough to be able to request this rate.

First of all, it is important that you know the bases and the types of contributions that exist before proceeding to register as a freelancer. It is also worth knowing that the higher the contribution amount, the higher your retirement pension will be tomorrow.

Contribution bases

The self-employed person has the option of choosing the amount of their contribution base with which they will contribute to Social Security. These bases correspond to a minimum of € 944.40 and a maximum of € 4,070.10. Note that the amount of this amount then affects other benefits that you can request such as unemployment, retirement or temporary disability.

Quote type

Finally, the type of contribution is the percentage of the contribution base that the self-employed person must pay to social security. Currently there is only one type of contribution for all the self-employed and it is 30.3%, a fee that amounts to about € 286.15.

Calculate your freelance fee

Once you have all the data, take a pencil and paper because we are going to do a little math. The formula to calculate the freelance fee that corresponds to you is very simple, so let’s go!

Self-employed quota = (Contribution base × Contribution type) / 100

It’s as simple as multiplying your base and quote type and then dividing it by 100.

In any case, if you have any questions about the amounts of the types of contributions and bases, you can access the official website of the Social Security and in its section ‘Bases and Types of contributions’ you can expand your information.
