The Ministry of Social Security publishes the payment data for March benefits, with a higher payroll, which shows the 0.9% rise in pensions that was already collected in January.

The Ministry of Social Security of José Luis Escrivá has an important notice for pensioners who are currently collecting the contributory benefit. And it is that, in the month of March, the State paid 10,119 million euros, 2.45% more than in 2020.

In total, the INSS has processed the payment of 9,815,728 contributory pensions, the majority corresponding to the retirement pension. An important fact is that, of the amount that we have mentioned before, 7,277 million euros have been for those people who reached the retirement age and requested their corresponding help.

The growth experienced, according to the data made public by Escrivá to which newstrabajo.es has had access, is over 3% in the last year.

Payment of the widow’s pension and permanent disability


The INSS paid 1,733 million euros for widowhood pensions, which increases the figure for March 2020 when income was 1.59% less. On the other hand, beneficiaries of permanent disability benefits fell by 0.47%, those for orphans increased by 1.33% more at a cost of 141 million and those for relatives with 2.48% more , which translated into euros adds up to 25.94 million.

On the other hand, the contributory pensions paid from the 1st of this month, represent 0.17 more than those paid in 2020. Of these, the statistics say that 6,136,784 were paid for retirement, 2,348,672 for widowhood , 947,539 of permanent disability, 339,935 of orphanhood and 43,078 of those received by family members.

What is the average pension paid by Social Security in March?


Pensioners have received an average of 1,030 euros per month. The amount changes in a very significant way compared to last year, due to the 0.9% increase in pensions promised by the Government of Pedro Sánchez and which appeared in the General State Budgets.

By sex, the data say that the benefit received by men was 1,251 euros, and that of women was, on average, 827 euros. The gender gap is more than evident, and that is why Minister Escrivá is already implementing new measures in Social Security aid.

Passive classes of pensions

What are contributory pensions?
