The grants will begin and can be requested in the month of April and will range from 100 to 450 euros with a maximum of three electrical appliances.
The Xunta has presented the Renove plan for home appliances for 2021. The Galician government has allocated a budget for those families in vulnerable situations to be able to renew their appliances for more energy efficient ones and save more money on their electricity bill.
According to the data provided, the government will allocate about 3 million euros and more than 20,000 families will be able to save about 560,000 euros a year on the bill with this help from the Xunta de Galicia.
This aid has been presented by the general director of Energy Planning and Natural Resources, Paula Uría in Santiago de Compostela in a meeting with the National Association of Electrical Appliance Distribution Companies (ADEN).
Who can benefit from this help?
All people who need to renew their appliances can apply for this grant. The aid will range from 100 to 450 euros and up to a maximum of three electrical appliances and will benefit 20,000 families. In general, 25% of the value of the appliance will be subsidized. If the person accredits this in a situation of vulnerability, the subsidy will be 50% and for the severely vulnerable 75%.
This aid can only be received once and for a maximum of three appliances that are energy efficient A, B, C with the exception of refrigerators, freezers and combined that may reach the D rating.
This aid from the Xunta will mobilize 10.5 million euros, it will be the source for the creation of 150 direct jobs, energy savings for thousands of families and above all a reduction in CO₂ emissions, which is equivalent to the planting of 60,000 trees .
To carry out such action, more than 500 businesses and establishments throughout the Autonomous Community have joined this project. Merchants will explain the benefits of renovating appliances.
Merchants interested in participating in the Renew Home Appliances program will be able to do so from March 30 to June 30. People interested in requesting this aid, the Xunta has confirmed that they will be able to request it from the second half of April.
